2022 Annual Meeting

The Lawrence Historical Society Annual Meeting will take place on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Township of Lawrence Municipal Building.

Due to New Jersey state regulations regarding government buildings, attendance will be limited and all attendees must wear masks at all time.


No food or drink will be permitted in the venue.

Following a brief 15 minute business meeting, Noah Lewis will do a presentation, “The Colonial Black Soldier and What They Mean to Us."  Mr. Lewis has been an historic re-enactor since 1996, when he first appeared as Edward "Ned" Hector before his daughter's 4th grade class.  Hector, an ancestor of Mr. Lewis, was a soldier in the Continental Army at the Battle of Brandywine.  Mr. Lewis is currently working on a biography of Mr. Hector and has studied Colonial America and the role of African-Americans in the fight for independency for over two decades.
